Hello everyone!
I decided to start a private blog in order to share details regarding the adoption. My public blog is meant to share my spiritual journey and hopefully encourage others. But, on the public blog I can't share details of what's happening with the adoption, pics of Hyeon - or even his name! Also, when it's time for us to travel, I really don't want to post publicly that we are out of town, but I want to be able to share with you all while we are in Korea.
So, here's the latest information we have on our journey -
- We have finalized his name - Hyeon Chae Oliver Wood
- As of 1 month ago, he was 27 pounds and growing!
- Hyeon's case was officially submitted to the courts on 2/6 - which means that we could receive our court date any day now... or 4 months from now... who knows.
Just this last week we learned that South Korea is moving from 4 judges completing adoptions down to 2, but they said that the 2 that remain will have a greater focus on adoption and less cases concerning other matters.
Most months we send a package to Hyeon and his foster family; the packages typically consist of diapers (we've graduated to pull-ups now), wipes, toiletries, vitamins, etc. We usually include something that we hope will familiarize him with our family - maybe some pictures of us or a book in which we can record ourselves reading it.
As we near our travel date, we wanted to send something we felt would comfort his foster family in knowing how many people are waiting for Hyeon to get here. The whole video is too large of a file to put on the blog, so I've put a few clips of it below, including some of the pictures sent by friends and family! It's okay to laugh at our broken Korean... I've decided that they may not even realize it is Korean that we are speaking!
